BRIX vs. Jobber: which one does the work you're behind on?

By BRIX Editorial Team · Updated

Jobber is a field service app you and your crew use to quote, schedule, invoice and get paid, with published plans from $29 a month. An AI secretary does office work for you: answering calls, following up, chasing invoices and keeping books tax-ready. Jobber suits crews that want a tidy app; an AI secretary suits owners short on office time.

Key takeaways

  • Jobber gives you and your crew a clean app for quotes, visits, invoices and payments. You run it.
  • BRIX is an AI secretary: it answers the phone, follows up, chases money and keeps the books organized. It does the work.
  • Jobber's AI Receptionist ($29/mo add-on, in Plus) covers call answering. BRIX starts at the call and carries through to the books.
  • Jobber publishes prices and offers a 14-day trial. BRIX is quoted and month-to-month.
  • They work together: BRIX connects with Jobber.

Is BRIX a Jobber replacement?

It can be, but that's not usually the best way to think about it. Jobber is a tool for running jobs: you build the quote, schedule the visit, send the invoice and take the payment, and your techs use its mobile app. It does that well, and many crews love it. BRIX is built around a different question: who does the office work when there's no office? It answers calls, follows up, chases invoices and keeps your books ready for your accountant. BRIX also covers scheduling, quotes, invoicing and a CRM, so you can run on it alone, but it also connects with Jobber.

Who is Jobber better for?

Jobber is the better pick if you want to run your shop yourself in one tidy app, your team is under about 15 people, you rarely miss calls or you're fine with a $29 add-on covering them, and you already have someone doing the books. Its published pricing, flexible billing and free trial make it easy to try. If you mainly want professional quotes, a client hub where customers approve and pay, and a crew app that's easy to learn, Jobber is a strong choice and we'd tell you so.

Who is BRIX better for?

BRIX fits if you're the owner, the tech and the office all at once. If you return calls at 9 p.m., forget to follow up quotes, let invoices age past 60 days and dread tax time, a better app won't fix it, because you still have to do the work in the app. BRIX takes on that work: the AI answers and books, follows up every lead and estimate by text and email, asks happy customers for reviews, chases invoices and keeps expenses and 1099s organized. You approve the rules once and it runs.

Both get the job done. The difference is how many of those steps you have to remember to do. Jobber automates reminders and follow-ups once you've set them up; BRIX's workflows are built and set up for you and reach into the books.

How does Jobber's AI Receptionist compare with BRIX?

Jobber's AI Receptionist is a solid product. It answers calls and texts 24/7, books visits using your online booking settings, takes requests, texts back callers who hang up, and escalates calls that match keywords you set, like "burst pipe" or "no heat". Each call and text gets a summary, transcript and recording. It costs $29 a month on Core, Connect and Grow and is included in Plus.

If answering calls is your only gap, that add-on may be all you need. BRIX's AI receptionist also answers 24/7, qualifies the caller, books the job and texts back missed callers. Where BRIX goes further is after the call: the same system chases the estimate, sends and collects the invoice and records it in the books. So the honest comparison isn't receptionist against receptionist. It's whether you want calls answered, or calls answered and everything after them handled.

Which works better with QuickBooks?

Jobber's QuickBooks Online sync starts on Connect. In its new integration, data flows one way from Jobber to QuickBooks, Jobber is the source of truth for clients and products, and paid status no longer syncs back. It doesn't support QuickBooks Desktop. That works fine for many shops, but categorizing expenses, reconciling deposits and tracking 1099 subs still happens in QuickBooks, by you or your bookkeeper.

BRIX syncs customers, invoices and payments with QuickBooks, and it also keeps expenses categorized, tracks 1099 subcontractors and sales tax, and reminds you of quarterly estimated tax dates. It doesn't file taxes or give tax advice; your accountant still does that. More: QuickBooks for contractors.

How does pricing compare?

Jobber publishes everything. For a 4-person shop on Connect's 5-user tier with AI Receptionist, billed annually, it's $149 + $29 = $178 a month, or $2,136 a year, plus 2.9% + 30¢ on card payments. The full grid and 3- and 10-truck examples are on Jobber pricing.

BRIX doesn't publish pricing, and we won't guess at it here. To compare fairly, add up what you'd pay Jobber for the plan and add-ons, plus what you spend on a bookkeeper or the hours you put into the books and follow-up yourself. Then ask us for a quote against that total.

Keep Jobber, add BRIX's AI on top

For a lot of shops this is the right answer. Your crew keeps the Jobber app, your quotes and visits stay in Jobber, and BRIX takes the calls, the follow-up, the collections and the bookkeeping. One rule: pick one tool to own invoices and the QuickBooks connection. If Jobber invoices, keep its sync and don't send those invoices from BRIX too; if BRIX invoices, turn off Jobber's invoice sync. Setup steps: Jobber integration.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between BRIX and Jobber?

Jobber is a field service app your team uses to quote, schedule, invoice and get paid. BRIX is an AI secretary that does office work for you: answering calls, following up leads and estimates, chasing invoices and keeping the books organized. They can also be used together.

Is BRIX cheaper than Jobber?

We can't say without quoting your shop, because BRIX doesn't publish pricing. Jobber runs $29 to $529 a month billed annually, plus add-ons and card fees. Compare BRIX's quote with Jobber's plan, add-ons and what you spend on bookkeeping and follow-up time.

Does BRIX work with Jobber?

Yes. BRIX connects with Jobber, so you can keep jobs, quotes and visits in Jobber while BRIX answers calls, follows up and helps with the books. Which records sync is set up with you during onboarding.

Is Jobber's AI Receptionist good enough?

For many small crews, yes. It answers calls and texts 24/7, books visits, texts back hang-ups and escalates urgent calls for $29 a month, or it's included in Plus. If you also need follow-up, collections and bookkeeping handled, that's where BRIX adds more.

Does Jobber do bookkeeping?

Not full bookkeeping. Jobber offers job costing on Grow, expense automation on Plus and a one-way sync to QuickBooks Online from Connect. Categorizing, reconciling and tax prep happen in QuickBooks or with a bookkeeper.

Can I try BRIX like Jobber's free trial?

Jobber offers a 14-day trial with no card. BRIX doesn't list a self-serve trial, but plans are month-to-month with no long-term contract, so you aren't locked in for a year. Contact us to talk through your shop.
