Jobber alternatives: what to use when Jobber stops fitting

By BRIX Editorial Team · Updated

The strongest Jobber alternatives are Housecall Pro for residential shops, ServiceM8 for small teams that want unlimited users, Service Fusion for unlimited users with QuickBooks Desktop, Workiz for on-demand trades and ServiceTitan for large shops. AI-first tools can also sit on top of Jobber rather than replace it.

Key takeaways

  • Shops usually outgrow Jobber over per-user costs, add-on stacking, the 15-user ceiling or QuickBooks limits.
  • Housecall Pro is the closest swap and also costs $149 a month for 5 users billed annually.
  • ServiceM8 and Service Fusion include unlimited users, which helps bigger crews.
  • Jobber's current QuickBooks sync is Online-only and one way; Service Fusion, FieldEdge and Housecall Pro list Desktop support.
  • If Jobber works for scheduling, adding AI on top may solve the real problem without a migration.

Why do people switch from Jobber?

Jobber is one of the easiest field service apps to start with, and plenty of shops never need anything else. The owners who go looking for an alternative usually hit one of these walls as they grow.

  • Cost per head. Jobber prices by user tier and charges $29 for each extra user. Going from 5 to 12 people on Grow takes you from $229 to $357 a month on annual billing. Full math: Jobber pricing.
  • Add-ons stack up. AI Receptionist ($29), Pipeline ($49) and Marketing Suite ($99) are extra below the Plus plan.
  • The 15-user line. Past 15 users, multiple locations or franchises, Jobber moves you to a sales quote.
  • QuickBooks. Core has no QuickBooks sync. On Connect and up, Jobber's new integration sends data one way to QuickBooks Online, paid status no longer syncs back, and QuickBooks Desktop isn't supported.
  • Do-it-yourself automation. Grow's custom workflow automations are powerful, but you build and maintain them yourself.

Sources: vendor pricing pages checked 2026-10-19; Jobber QuickBooks details from its help center (2026-10-12). ServiceM8 lists prices in USD per month and prices by job volume, not users. ServiceTitan doesn't publish prices; the range is 5 × $245–$500 per tech from third-party estimates. Card processing not included.

Housecall Pro: the closest Jobber swap

Housecall Pro and Jobber chase the same customer, and at five users they cost the same: $149 a month billed annually. Housecall Pro's Essentials plan includes five users, routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, GPS tracking, commissions and QuickBooks Online sync. Max adds route optimization, recurring service plans, a sales proposal tool and open API access for $299 a month with eight users, then $35 per extra user. It says there's no long-term contract.

Switch if you want commissions, routing and service plans in the mid-tier, or if you're on QuickBooks Desktop (Housecall Pro's QuickBooks page says it works with both). Stay with Jobber if you like its quoting and client hub and don't need those extras. Also note that Housecall Pro's CSR AI call answering is an add-on with no published price, while Jobber publishes $29. More: Housecall Pro pricing.

ServiceM8: cheapest for a crew with lots of people

ServiceM8 flips the pricing model: unlimited users on every paid plan, priced by how many jobs you run a month. Starter is $29 for 50 jobs, Growing $79 for 150, Premium $149 for 500 and Premium Plus $349 for 1,500+, plus a free plan for 30 jobs. QuickBooks Online and Xero connect on every plan, and it says there are no lock-ins.

If you run a 6-person crew doing 120 jobs a month, that's $79 instead of $229 on Jobber Grow. The trade-off: ServiceM8 is built for short, repeatable jobs and lists AI writing and quoting helpers, not an AI receptionist. High-volume shops pay more as job counts climb.

Service Fusion: unlimited users and QuickBooks Desktop

Service Fusion includes unlimited users on all plans, integrates with QuickBooks Online and Desktop, and bills month-to-month. Starter is $208 a month billed annually ($245 monthly), Plus $325 ($382) and Pro $533 ($627). A 12-person crew on Plus billed annually pays $325, compared with $357 on Jobber Grow for 12 users. It's a good fit for shops whose office is growing as fast as the field team.

Workiz: built for on-demand service calls

Workiz focuses on fast-turn trades like locksmith, garage door and appliance repair. It stopped publishing prices; Standard, Pro and Ultimate all say "Request pricing", with annual billing discounted. QuickBooks Online sync is on every plan. Its Genius Answering add-on answers calls, emails and texts 24/7 and can live-transfer to your team. There's a 7-day free trial.

ServiceTitan: when you've truly outgrown Jobber

If you're past 15 users, running a membership program and hiring CSRs and a dispatcher, ServiceTitan is the step up. It doesn't publish prices; third-party estimates run about $245–$500 per tech per month plus implementation reported at $5,000–$50,000+, on an annual minimum term. That's a big jump from Jobber, so it only makes sense when you'll use the depth. See ServiceTitan pricing.

BRIX: when the gap isn't the scheduling app

A lot of owners shop for a Jobber alternative when the real problem is that nobody answers the phone at 7 p.m., quotes go unanswered and the books are three months behind. BRIX is an AI secretary for that work. It answers every call 24/7 and books the job, texts back missed callers, follows up every lead and open estimate, chases unpaid invoices, syncs with QuickBooks and keeps expenses, 1099 subs and sales tax organized. It also handles scheduling, dispatch, quotes and a CRM if you want to replace Jobber outright.

What to know: BRIX doesn't publish pricing, so you'll need a quote. It's month-to-month. Compare it in detail at BRIX vs. Jobber.

When should you stay with Jobber?

Stay with Jobber if you're under about 10 people, you're on QuickBooks Online and happy with one-way sync, your crew likes the app, and your main gaps are things Jobber's add-ons or a tool on top can fill. Jobber's published pricing, flexible billing and 14-day trial make it low-risk. Switching software costs you weeks of setup and retraining, so don't do it to save $50 a month.

Keep Jobber, add BRIX's AI on top

This is often the cheapest fix. BRIX connects with Jobber, so your techs keep the Jobber app and your quotes and visits stay where they are. BRIX takes the phone, the follow-up, the invoice chasing and the bookkeeping. Decide whether Jobber or BRIX owns invoices and the QuickBooks connection before anything syncs, so you don't get duplicate invoices. Setup details: Jobber integration.

Jobber switching checklist

  1. 1

    Check your billing term.

If you're on Jobber's annual prepaid plan, it's non-refundable and runs to the end of the term. On the 1-year commitment, you stay billed to the end of the 12 months. Time the switch to your renewal date and turn off auto-renew.

  2. 2

    Export clients and history.

Export your client list from the Clients tab (More Actions, then Export Clients) as CSV; Jobber emails it in files of up to 1,500 rows, and exporting is limited to certain plans. Then export quotes, jobs and invoices from reports, and save photos you'll need for warranty work.

  3. 3

    Move recurring work first.

List every recurring job and visit schedule. These are the easiest to drop in a migration and the most expensive to lose.

  4. 4

    Sort out QuickBooks.

Jobber is the source of truth for clients and products in its QuickBooks Online sync. Before cutover, decide which new system sends invoices and payments to QuickBooks, disconnect Jobber's sync on the cutover day, and reconcile open invoices so nothing posts twice.

  5. 5

    Keep your phone number.

If your business number lives with a phone carrier, it stays put. If you use a number provided through Jobber's AI Receptionist or a call-tracking add-on, ask Jobber how to port it or forward it, and don't cancel until it's moved.

  6. 6

    Run both for two weeks.

Book new jobs in the new tool while you close out open jobs and collect open invoices in Jobber.

  7. 7

    Retrain and tell clients.

Give techs a short walkthrough of the new app. Let clients know if their booking link, client hub or payment link is changing.

Frequently asked questions

What is better than Jobber?

It depends on what's wrong. For residential shops wanting routing and commissions, Housecall Pro. For big crews, ServiceM8 or Service Fusion with unlimited users. For 15+ techs with a CSR team, ServiceTitan. If the gap is phones and paperwork, an AI tool on top of Jobber may be better than switching.

Is Housecall Pro cheaper than Jobber?

At five users they're the same: $149 a month billed annually for Jobber Connect or Housecall Pro Essentials, checked 2026-10-19. Jobber's one-user Core plan is cheaper at $29 versus Housecall Pro Basic at $59. At larger team sizes it depends on the plan.

What's a Jobber alternative with QuickBooks Desktop?

Service Fusion and FieldEdge list QuickBooks Online and Desktop on every plan, and Housecall Pro's QuickBooks page says it works with both. Jobber's current integration supports QuickBooks Online only.

Is there a free alternative to Jobber?

ServiceM8 has a free plan for one user and up to 30 jobs a month. Most other field service apps offer free trials rather than free plans: Jobber and Housecall Pro offer 14 days, Workiz 7 days.

Can I cancel Jobber anytime?

On monthly no-commitment billing, yes; it ends at the end of the billing period. The 1-year commitment runs a full 12 months, and annual prepaid billing is non-refundable. All plans auto-renew unless you turn it off.

How do I export my data from Jobber?

Jobber's help center says you can export clients as a CSV or vCard file from the Clients tab, and it emails the file in batches of up to 1,500 rows. Exporting is limited to certain plans. Export everything you need, including photos, before your subscription ends.

Do I need to leave Jobber to use BRIX?

No. BRIX connects with Jobber. You can keep Jobber for jobs and visits and use BRIX for calls, follow-up, invoice chasing and bookkeeping help.
