Housecall Pro alternatives: options for growing residential shops
By BRIX Editorial Team · Updated
Good Housecall Pro alternatives include Jobber for small crews, Service Fusion and ServiceM8 for unlimited users, FieldEdge for established HVAC and plumbing shops, and ServiceTitan for large operations. Jobber publishes its AI receptionist price ($29 a month); Housecall Pro doesn't publish CSR AI pricing. Some shops add AI on top instead of switching.
Key takeaways
- Owners usually look past Housecall Pro when per-user costs climb on Max or add-on quotes surprise them.
- For 12 users billed annually: Housecall Pro Max $439/mo, Jobber Grow $357/mo, Service Fusion Plus $325/mo with unlimited users.
- Jobber publishes a $29 AI Receptionist price; Housecall Pro's CSR AI call answering has no public price.
- Housecall Pro is still a strong fit for residential shops that want routing, commissions and service plans in one app.
- Use the switching checklist to move customers, service plans, your number and QuickBooks cleanly.
Why do shops leave Housecall Pro?
Housecall Pro is a well-built app for residential service work, and many shops are happy on it. When owners start shopping around, it's usually for one of these reasons.
- Cost as you hire. Basic covers one user and Essentials five. Past eight users on Max, each person is $35 a month. A 12-person shop pays $439 a month on Max billed annually. Full math: Housecall Pro pricing.
- Add-ons you can't price online. CSR AI, Voice, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting and six other add-ons are listed without prices.
- AI phone answering is extra. The AI team is included in every plan, but CSR AI call answering is listed as an add-on, and text answering is still "coming soon".
- The books still live elsewhere. QuickBooks sync pushes invoices and payments into QuickBooks, but bookkeeping still happens in QuickBooks, and QuickBooks isn't included in the subscription.

Jobber: simpler and cheaper per head
Jobber is Housecall Pro's most direct rival and usually comes in a bit cheaper as you add people, thanks to its 10- and 15-user tiers and $29 extra users. Its real edge for a shop shopping on AI is transparency: the AI Receptionist is a published $29 a month add-on, included in Plus, and it answers calls and texts 24/7. Jobber's Grow plan adds job costing, two-way SMS and custom automations.
What you give up: Jobber's QuickBooks sync is Online-only and one way, and route optimization, commissions and recurring service plans are packaged differently than in Housecall Pro. If commissions and service plans drive your business, check that Jobber's plan covers them before moving. More: Jobber pricing.
Service Fusion: unlimited users and Desktop support
Service Fusion's pricing doesn't change when you hire. Every plan includes unlimited users: Starter $208, Plus $325 and Pro $533 a month billed annually, or $245, $382 and $627 billed monthly. All plans are month-to-month and integrate with QuickBooks Online and Desktop. If your Housecall Pro bill keeps rising with every new hire, this is the model to price. Its ServiceCall.ai add-on handles VoIP and call tracking, with no published price.
ServiceM8: lowest cost for small, busy teams
ServiceM8 charges by jobs per month with unlimited users: $29 for 50 jobs, $79 for 150, $149 for 500 and $349 for 1,500+, plus a free plan for 30 jobs. QuickBooks Online and Xero connect on every plan, and there are no lock-ins. A 12-person cleaning or pest crew running 400 jobs a month would pay $149, roughly a third of Housecall Pro Max. Bigger, longer jobs and enterprise reporting aren't its focus, and it doesn't list an AI receptionist.
FieldEdge: for HVAC and plumbing shops that want onboarding included
FieldEdge targets established multi-truck HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies. It doesn't publish prices; its Select, Premier and Elite plans are quoted by team size and add-ons. Every plan includes QuickBooks Online and Desktop, onboarding is included, and its pricing page refers to annual memberships. There's no free trial and no AI call answering listed. Consider it if you want a hands-on vendor and deep QuickBooks Desktop support.
ServiceTitan: when you're building a call center
If you're growing past 15 techs with CSRs, dispatchers and a big membership program, ServiceTitan is the next tier up. Expect a different buying process: no published prices, third-party estimates of $245–$500 per tech per month, implementation reported at $5,000–$50,000+, and an annual minimum term. See ServiceTitan pricing.
BRIX: when you need the work done, not another app
BRIX is an AI secretary for blue collar businesses. It answers every call 24/7 and books the job, texts back missed callers, follows up every lead and open estimate, asks for reviews, chases unpaid invoices, syncs with QuickBooks and keeps expenses, 1099 subs and sales tax organized. It also covers scheduling, dispatch, quotes, a CRM and crew timesheets if you want one system.
Two honest caveats. BRIX doesn't publish pricing, so like Housecall Pro's add-ons, you'll need a quote. And Housecall Pro has a long track record with residential shops; BRIX's focus is the office work around the job rather than replicating every Housecall Pro feature. Plans are month-to-month. Side-by-side: BRIX vs. Housecall Pro.
When is Housecall Pro still the best choice?
Stay with Housecall Pro if you're a residential HVAC, plumbing, electrical or cleaning shop with 2–8 people, you use its routes, commissions and service plans, and your customers like booking and paying online through it. Essentials at $149 a month for five users billed annually is good value, there's no long-term contract, and support by phone and chat is included on every plan. If the only thing bugging you is calls, fix that without migrating.
Keep Housecall Pro, add BRIX's AI on top
BRIX connects with Housecall Pro. Your techs keep the app, your schedule stays put, and BRIX takes the phone, the follow-up, the collections and the bookkeeping. Before anything syncs, decide which tool owns invoices and the QuickBooks connection so you don't get duplicates. Setup: Housecall Pro integration.
Housecall Pro switching checklist
- 1
Time it to your billing period.
Housecall Pro has no long-term contract, but annual billing is paid up front. Plan your cutover near the end of the billing period you've already paid for.
- 2
Export customers and job history.
Pull customers, addresses, job history, estimates, invoices and your price book. Ask Housecall Pro support what can be exported and in what format, including photos and attachments.
- 3
List every recurring service plan.
Membership and maintenance visits are easy to lose in a move. Record each customer's plan, price, next visit and billing date.
- 4
Move your phone number carefully.
If your number runs through Housecall Pro's Voice add-on, ask how to port it to your new carrier. Start the port first and keep the old service active until the port completes.
- 5
Hand off QuickBooks.
Housecall Pro pushes invoices, customers, line items and payments into QuickBooks. On cutover day, disconnect it, connect the new system and reconcile open invoices so nothing posts twice.
- 6
Switch payment links and financing.
Customers with open invoices or financing offers may need new links. Collect what you can in Housecall Pro before you switch.
- 7
Overlap for two weeks.
Book new work in the new system and finish open jobs in Housecall Pro, then cancel.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Housecall Pro?
For most small residential crews, Jobber is the closest alternative with published pricing. For shops adding lots of people, Service Fusion or ServiceM8 with unlimited users. For large shops with CSR teams, ServiceTitan. If your gap is phones and paperwork, adding AI on top may beat switching.
Is Jobber cheaper than Housecall Pro?
It depends on team size. At five users both cost $149 a month billed annually. For 12 users, Jobber Grow works out to $357 a month versus $439 for Housecall Pro Max, checked 2026-10-19. Plan contents differ, so compare features too.
Which Housecall Pro alternative has unlimited users?
Service Fusion includes unlimited users on every plan, starting at $208 a month billed annually. ServiceM8 also includes unlimited users and prices by jobs per month, from $29 for 50 jobs.
Is there an alternative to Housecall Pro CSR AI?
Yes. Jobber's AI Receptionist is $29 a month, Workiz sells Genius Answering, and standalone AI receptionists and tools like BRIX can answer calls on top of Housecall Pro. Housecall Pro doesn't publish CSR AI pricing, so get a quote to compare.
Can I cancel Housecall Pro anytime?
Housecall Pro says it doesn't require long-term contracts and that cancelling is simple. If you prepaid annually, plan your switch around the end of that paid period.
How do I move my data off Housecall Pro?
Ask Housecall Pro support for an export of customers, jobs, estimates, invoices and your price book, and record every recurring service plan separately. Disconnect its QuickBooks sync on cutover day so invoices don't post twice.
Can BRIX work with Housecall Pro instead of replacing it?
Yes. BRIX connects with Housecall Pro, so you can keep scheduling and dispatch there and use BRIX for call answering, follow-up, invoice chasing and bookkeeping help.
